Surgery

The Hernia InstituteParis provides you with the most effective tailored approach. At the Hernia InstituteParis you beneficiate from the most modern methods of hernia repair, selected by the Institute surgeons as part of a tailored approach.

Day case surgery

At the Hernia InstituteParis, operations are routinely carried out in day case surgery. You are operated on in the morning, you go back home or to your hotel a few hours later and if you don’t live in Paris you are able to go back in your country after the control visit to the surgeon, one to three days later.

Laparoscopy

At the Hernia InstituteParis, in most cases surgery is carried out by laparoscopic approach with light general anesthesia. This means that small holes (5-10mm) are performed to allow the introduction of trocars, through which camera and instruments are introduced to operate. No direct opening at the hernia site is performed.

Consequently, damage to the abdominal wall and scars are minimal, which results in low postoperative pain and facilitates early return to full activity and to work. There are neither skin sutures nor staples to remove and no need for nurse care.

The Hernia Institute Paris methods

In most cases we use laparoscopic techniques – TEP (Total Extra-Peritoneal) or TAPP (Trans-Abdomino Preperitoneal) – which are considered as optimal methods by the experts.

We also practice the TIPP technique (Trans-Inguinal PrePeritoneal), which consists of deploying a patch endowed with memory of shape in the preperitoneal space, by a short minimally invasive incision, through the hernia orifice. This technique can be performed in light general anesthesia or even in local anesthesia.

In both cases, surgery is carried out in day-case surgery.
